CONTROL OF FUEL AND ELECTRICITY

8th December 1976
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 23(2) of the Energy Act 1976 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby orders as follows:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Energy Act 1976 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1976.
2. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of this Order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
3. The following provisions of the Energy Act 1976 shall come into operation on 1st January 1977:—
(a)section 7 (fuel stocks at power stations);
(b)section 14 (fuelling of new and converted power stations);
(c)section 15 (passenger car fuel consumption);
(d)section 16 (finance for power projects); and
(e)sections 17 (orders and directions), 18 (administration, enforcement and offences), 19 (penalties), 20 (financial provision), 21 (interpretation) and Schedules 2 (administration and other matters) and 3 (Community obligations of which a breach is punishable under this Act) so far as they relate to the provisions specified in paragraphs (a) to (d) above or provision made under them or to the obligations specified in Schedule 3.

This Order brings into operation on 1st January 1977 all the provisions of the Energy Act 1976 not already in operation except sections 8 to 11 (Offshore natural gas) and 12 (Disposal of gas by flaring etc.) and provisions related to those sections.
