The Friendly Societies Commission, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it bysection 11(7)(b) of the Friendly Societies Act 1992(1) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Friendly Societies (Group Schemes) Regulations 1993, and shall come into force on 19th February 1993.
2. A group of persons shall be prescribed for the purposes of the definition of “group scheme” within section 11(3)(b) of the Friendly Societies Act 1992 if it is a club formed for any of the following purposes:
(a)the promotion of lawful sports or games;
(b)the provision of facilities for recreation (including physical exercise) or other leisure-time occupation.
In witness whereof the common seal of the Friendly Societies Commission is hereunto fixed, and is authenticated by me, a person authorised under paragraph 13 of Schedule 1 to the Friendly Societies Act 1992, on14th January 1993.
