3.—(1) The police areas for the local government areas of Argyll and Bute, Dumbarton and Clydebank, City of Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire, Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire and South Ayrshire shall on the appointed day be amalgamated for police purposes into the combined police area called the Strathclyde combined police area.
(2) Nothing in this scheme shall affect or prejudice any right which any of the constituent authorities may have to make use of the services of the police for the purposes of the authority’s functions under any enactments other than those relating to the police.
