The governing body of Monkseaton Community High School(1) (“the governing body”) wish to continue to trial innovative arrangements in relation to the holding of their meetings and their decision making procedures implemented by virtue of the Monkseaton Community High School (Governing Body Procedures) Order 2006(2).
The governing body have, in accordance with section 4(2) of the Education Act 2002(3) (“the Act”), consulted the local education authority and such other persons as appear to them to be appropriate.
It is the opinion of the Secretary of State, having regard to the matters set out in section 1(2) of the Act, that the extension of the period for which that Order has effect may contribute to the raising of educational standards achieved by children in England.
On the application of the governing body, the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 2(1) and 3(1) of the Act.
1. This Order may be cited as the Monkseaton Community High School (Governing Body Procedures) (Amendment) Order 2009 and comes into force on 8th May 2009.
2.—(1) The Monkseaton Community High School (Governing Body Procedures) Order 2006 is amended as follows.
(2) For Article 3, substitute the following Article—
“3. This Order shall have effect until 7th May 2012.”

The Monkseaton Community High School (Procedures) Order 2006 enables the governing body of the Monkseaton Community High School to hold meetings otherwise than in accordance with regulation 12(2) of the School Governance (Procedures) (England) Regulations 2003, as amended, by relaxing the requirements for all governors to be physically present at such meetings. The Monkseaton Community High School (Procedures) Order 2006 has effect until 11th May 2009. Article 2 of this Order extends the Monkseaton Community High School (Procedures) Order 2006 so that it has effect until 7th May 2012.
