Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1
The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 8 and 11(1) of, and paragraph 12 of Schedule 4 to, the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020 (“the 2020 Act”) M1 and section 9(2) of the Immigration Act 1971 M2.
These are the first regulations to be made under section 8 of the 2020 Act. In accordance with paragraph 1(1)(a) of Schedule 4 to that Act, a draft of these Regulations was laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
