The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety(1) makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 15(1)(e), 16(1), 25(1) and 47(2) of the Food Safety (Northern Ireland) Order 1991(2)
In accordance with Article 47(3A) of that Order, it has had regard to relevant advice given by the Food Standards Agency.
As required by Article 9 of Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety(3), there has been open and transparent public consultation during the preparation and evaluation of these Regulations.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Honey (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 and shall come into operation on 14th April 2008.
2.—(1) The Honey Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003(4) are amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
(2) In Schedule 2 (specifications for specified honey products), opposite the words “honeydew and chestnut honey and blends of these except with those listed below”, for the words “not more than 0.8 mS/cm” there is substituted “not less than 0.8 mS/cm”.

These Regulations make a minor amendment to the Honey (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 (S.R. 2003 No.383). They implement the Corrigendum to Council Directive 2001/110/EC relating to honey (OJ L52, 21.2.2007) which corrected an error in Annex II to Council Directive 2001/110/EC (OJ L10, 12.1.2002).
