The Public Service (Civil Servants and Others) Pensions (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022

Coming into operation in accordance with regulation 1(2)

The Department of Finance makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1(1) and (2)(a), 2 and 3(1), (2) and (3) of and Schedule 3 to the Public Service Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 2014(1). (“the 2014 Act”).

In accordance with section 21(1) (2) of the 2014 Act, the Department of Finance has consulted such persons as appear to the Department of Finance to be likely to be affected by these Regulations.

The retrospective provisions contained in these Regulations do not appear to the Department of Finance to have significant adverse effects in relation to the pension payable to or in respect of members of the scheme established by The Public Service (Civil Servants and Others) Pensions Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014(3), nor in any other way in relation to members of that scheme. Accordingly, the procedures set out in section 23 of the 2014 Act are not applicable in respect of these Regulations.

2014 c. 2 (N.I.). Section 3 was amended by section 94(12) to (14) of the Public Service Pensions and Judicial Offices Act 2022 (c. 7) (“the 2022 Act”). Section 18(5) is repealed from 1 April 2022 by section 88(5)(c) of the 2022 Act, subject to the savings and transitional provision contained in section 89 of that Act.
