1. These Regulations may be cited as the Tenancy Deposit Schemes (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2023 and come into operation on 1st April 2023.
2. The Tenancy Deposit Schemes Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012(3) are amended in accordance with regulation 3.
3.—(1) In regulation 12 (requirement on landlord to supply information) –
(a)In paragraph (a), for “14 days” substitute “28 days”; and
(b)In paragraph (b) –
(i)For “28 days” substitute “35 days”;
(ii)At the end insert “and any relevant person”.
(2) In regulation 37(2) (duty to produce an information leaflet), for “28 days” substitute “35 days”.
(3) In Schedule 1 (the prescribed information to be provided when the tenancy deposit is protected in a tenancy deposit scheme) –
(a)In paragraph 1, omit “within 14 days from the receipt of the deposit from the tenant”;
(b)In paragraph 3, omit “within 28 days from the receipt of the deposit”.

These Regulations amend regulation 12 paragraphs (a) and (b), regulation 37(2) and Schedule 1, paragraphs (1) and (3) of the Tenancy Deposit Schemes Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 by increasing the time limits for requirements relating to tenancy deposits.
The Department for Social Development was renamed the Department for Communities in accordance with section 1(7) of the Departments Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 (2016 c.5 (N.I.))
