The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 26(2) of the Agriculture (Retained EU Law and Data) (Scotland) Act 2020(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Agriculture (Retained EU Law and Data) (Scotland) Act 2020 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2020 and come into force on 5 November 2020.
2. 5 November 2020 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Agriculture (Retained EU Law and Data) (Scotland) Act 2020—
(a)section 1 (Defined terms),
(b)section 2 (Power to simplify or improve CAP legislation),
(c)section 3 (Power to provide for the operation of CAP legislation beyond 2020), and
(d)section 4 (Power to modify financial provision in CAP legislation).

These Regulations bring into force sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Agriculture (Retained EU Law and Data) (Scotland) Act 2020 on 5 November 2020.
The Bill for that Act received Royal Assent on 1 October 2020. Section 5 and sections 21 to 27 came into force on the day after that.

Policy Note sets out a brief statement of the purpose of a Scottish Statutory Instrument and provides information about its policy objective and policy implications. They aim to make the Scottish Statutory Instrument accessible to readers who are not legally qualified and accompany any Scottish Statutory Instrument or Draft Scottish Statutory Instrument laid before the Scottish Parliament from July 2012 onwards. Prior to this date these type of notes existed as ‘Executive Notes’ and accompanied Scottish Statutory Instruments from July 2005 until July 2012.
