The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 89(1) and 91(1) of the Transport Act 1968(1), and now vested in him(2), and the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988(3), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 91(8) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Goods Vehicles (Operators' Licences, Qualifications and Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.

2.—(1) The Goods Vehicles (Operators' Licences, Qualifications and Fees) Regulations 1984(4) shall be amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 35(1A)—

(a) for the words “1st October 1991” there shall be substituted the words “1st April 1993”; and

(b) in sub-paragraph (a) for “£70” there shall be substituted “£170”.

(3) In regulation 35(1B)—

(a) after the word “licence” there shall be inserted the words “on or after 1st April 1993”; and

(b) in sub-paragraph (b) for “£70” there shall be substituted “£170”.

3.  Nothing in regulation 2 of these Regulations affects the fee payable in respect of the grant or variation of a licence before 1st April 1993.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations further amend the Goods Vehicles (Operators' Licences, Qualifications and Fees) Regulations 1984.

The fee prescribed in respect of the grant or variation of a goods vehicle operator’s licence is increased from £70 to £170.
