1. This Order may be cited as the A339 Trunk Road (West Berkshire/Hampshire County Boundary at Knights Bridge, near Bishops Green to south of the A30 Blackdam Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1 May 2003.
2. In this Order—
(i) "principal road" | as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and |
(ii) "the trunk road" | means the A339 Trunk Road (A339). |
3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Hampshire County Council that they will become the highway authority responsible for that length of road.

The length of trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between the boundary of West Berkshire and the County of Hampshire at Knights Bridge, near Bishops Green and south of the A30 Blackdam Roundabout, including:
the A339/A30 Blackdam Roundabout;
the A339/Churchill Way Interchange;
the A339/A33 Reading Road Roundabout;
the A339/A340 Aldermaston Road Roundabout;
the A339/A340 Ring Road West Roundabout;
the A339/Roman Road Roundabout;
the A339/Union Lane Roundabout;
all parallel lay-bys and cycle tracks;
all structures.
and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered HA10/OD/402, marked “The A339 (West Berkshire/Hampshire County Boundary at Knights Bridge, near Bishops Green south of the A30 Blackdam Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2003”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonard’s on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
