The Secretary of State for Transport, having consulted such persons as appear to him to be representative of competent harbour authorities and such persons or organisations as appear to him to be representative of the persons who may benefit from the Hartlepool Pilots' Benefit Fund, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by paragraph 4(1) of Schedule 1 to the Pilotage Act 1987 (1)and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Pilotage Act 1987 (Hartlepool Pilots' Benefit Fund) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 11th May 1990.

2.  In this Order “the Fund” means the Hartlepool Pilots' Benefit Fund, being a pilots' benefit fund established under byelaws made by the former Hartlepool Pilotage Authority under paragraph (i) of section 15(1) of the Pilotage Act 1983 (2).

3.  The Tees and Hartlepool Pilotage Company Ltd shall be managers of the Fund and shall have full powers to amend or revoke the byelaws and any other provisions governing the Fund.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides that the Tees and Hartlepool Pilotage Company Ltd shall be managers of the Hartlepool Pilots' Benefit Fund with full powers to amend or revoke the byelaws and any other provisions governing the Fund.

The Hartlepool Pilots' Benefit Fund is a pilots' benefit fund established under section 15(1)(i) of the Pilotage Act 1983 and has continued in existence, notwithstanding the repeal of that section, by virtue of paragraph 4(1) of Schedule 1 to the Pilotage Act 1987.
