The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8B(5) of the Immigration Act 1971(1):

1.  This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Designation of Travel Bans) (Amendment) Order 2010 and shall come into force on 20th December 2010.

2.  For the Schedule to the Immigration (Designation of Travel Bans) Order 2000(2) substitute the Schedule set out in the Schedule to this Order.

3.  The Immigration (Designation of Travel Bans) (Amendment) Order 2009(3) is revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Immigration (Designation of Travel Bans) Order 2000 (“the 2000 Order”) by substituting the Schedule set out in the Schedule to this Order for the Schedule to the 2000 Order (which was last substituted by the Immigration (Designation of Travel Bans) (Amendment) Order 2009 (“the 2009 Order”)). Any person named by or under an instrument listed in the new Schedule or falling within a description in such an instrument will be excluded from the United Kingdom (subject to the exceptions specified in article 3 of the 2000 Order).

The effect of substituting the Schedule set out in the Schedule to this Order for the Schedule to the 2000 Order is to add to and delete from, the list of designated instruments, and to make some amendments to the list.

The additions to Part 1 of the Schedule are UN Resolution 1904 (2009) of 17 December 2009 (Al Qaida and the Taliban), UN Resolution 1946 (2010) of 15 October 2010 (Cote d’Ivoire), UN Resolution 1896 (2009) of 30 November 2009 (Democratic Republic of the Congo), UN Resolution 1928 (2010) of 7 June 2010 (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea), UN Resolution 1929 (2010) of 9 June 2010 (Iran), UN Resolution 1903 (2009) of 17 December 2009 (Liberia) and UN Resolution 1907 (2009) of 23 December 2009 (Somalia and Eritrea).
