The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 54(1)(b), 55(1) and (2), 75(1) and 154(5)(c) of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011(1).
In accordance with section 55(1) of that Act, the Treasury has consented to the making of this Order insofar as it is made under that section.
In accordance with section 7(1) and (2)(ha) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000(2), the Secretary of State has consulted the Electoral Commission before making this Order insofar as it is made under section 54(1)(b) of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.

This Order amends the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections (Designation of Local Authorities) Order 2020 (S.I 2020/134), the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections (Designation of Police Area Returning Officers) Order 2020 (S.I. 2020/136), and the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections (Local Returning Officers’ and Police Area Returning Officers’ Charges) Order 2021 (S.I. 2021/390), consequential on the renaming of the Hampshire police area as the Hampshire and Isle of Wight police area.
The Police Act 1996 (Amendment and Consequential Amendments) Regulations 2022 (S.I. 2022/790) amended the name of that police area in Schedule 1 to the Police Act 1996 (c. 16) and made other consequential amendments.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
2011 c. 13. Sections 54(1)(b), 55(1), 75(1) and 154(5) were amended by S.I. 2021/1265.
2000 c. 41. Section 7(2)(ha) was inserted by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011, Schedule 10, paragraphs 8 and 11.
