Point in time view as at 31/01/2020.
There are outstanding changes not yet made to Commission decision of 25 January 1999 on the procedure for attesting the conformity of construction products pursuant to Article 20(2) of Council Directive 89/106/EEC as regards precast normal/lightweight/autoclaved aerated concrete products (notified under document number C(1999) 118) (Text with EEA relevance) (1999/94/EC). Any changes that have already been made to the legislation appear in the content and are referenced with annotations.
Changes and effects yet to be applied by the editorial team are only applicable when viewing the latest version or prospective version of legislation. They are therefore not accessible when viewing legislation as at a specific point in time. To view the ‘Changes to Legislation’ information for this provision return to the latest version view using the options provided in the ‘What Version’ box above.
Precast normal/lightweight/autoclaved aerated concrete products (1):
Intended for light structural(2) or non-structural use (in particular, boundary fences, junction boxes for telecommunications, small box culverts, non-loadbearing wall elements and cladding elements).
Precast normal/lightweight/autoclaved aerated concrete products:
Intended for structural use (in particular prestressed hollow core floor elements, posts and masts(3), foundation piles, shuttering slabs, lattice girder elements, beam/block floor units and elements, ribbed floor slabs, linear structural elements (beams and columns), load-bearing wall elements, retaining wall elements, roof elements, silos(4), stairs, bridge deck elements and large box culverts).
For the product(s) and intended use(s) listed below, CEN/Cenelec are requested to specify the following system(s) of attestation of conformity in the relevant harmonised standard(s):
a Light structural use refers to applications that in case of failure are not supposed to cause the collapse of the works or part of them, inadmissible deformations or injury to people (to be defined by Member States). | |||
System 2+: See Directive 89/106/EEC, Annex III(2)(ii), First possibility, including certification of the factory production control by an approved body on the basis of initial inspection of factory and of factory production control as well as of continuous surveillance assessment and approval of factory production control. | |||
System 4: See Directive 89/106/EEC, Annex III(2)(ii), Third possibility. | |||
Product(s) | Intended use(s) | Level(s) or class(es) | Attestation of conformity system(s) |
---|---|---|---|
Precast normal/lightweight/autoclaved aerated concrete products | for structural use | — | 2 + |
for non-structural or light structural usea | — | 4 |
The specification for the system should be such that it can be implemented even where performance does not need to be determined for a certain characteristic, because at least one Member State has no legal requirement at all for such characteristic (see Article 2(1) of Directive 89/106/EEC and, where applicable, point 1.2.3. of the Interpretative Documents). In those cases the verification of such a characteristic must not be imposed on the manufacturer if he does not wish to declare the performance of the product in that respect.
For the product(s) and intended use(s) listed below, the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) is requested to specify the following system of attestation of conformity in the relevant harmonised European standards:
a Products or materials for which a clearly identifiable stage in the production process results in an improvement of the reaction to fire classification (for example, the addition of fire retardants or the limitation of organic material). | |||
b Products or materials not covered by footnote a | |||
c Products or materials that are not required to be tested for reaction to fire (for example, products or materials of Class A1 in accordance with Commission Decision 96/603/EC ( OJ L 267, 19.10.1996, p. 23 )). | |||
System 1: See Annex III(2)(i) to Directive 89/106/EEC, without audit-testing of samples. | |||
System 3: See Annex III(2)(ii) to Directive 89/106/EEC, second possibility. | |||
System 4: See Annex III(2)(ii) to Directive 89/106/EEC, third possibility. | |||
Product(s) | Intended use(s) | Level(s) or class(es) (Reaction to fire) | Attestation of conformity system(s) |
---|---|---|---|
Beam/block floor units and elements incorporating organic materials | For uses subject to regulations on reaction to fire | (A1, A2, B, C) a | 1 |
(A1, A2, B, C) b , D, E | 3 | ||
(A1 to E) c , F | 4 |
The specification for the system must be such that it may be implemented even where it is not necessary to determine the performance for a certain characteristic, because at least one Member State has no legal requirement for that characteristic (see Article 2(1) of Directive 89/106/EEC and, where applicable, point 1.2.3 of the Interpretative Documents). In those cases, the verification of such a characteristic must not be imposed on the manufacturer if it does not wish to declare the performance of the product in that respect.]
