Where reference is made to a separate Directive, an approval issued under the following Regulations of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (taking account of the scope a , and the amendment to each of the UN/ECE Regulations listed below) shall be recognised as an alternative to an EC type-approval granted under the relevant separate Directive in the table of Part I.

These Regulations are the ones to which the Community has adhered as a Contracting Party to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Revised 1958 Geneva Agreement by virtue of Council Decision 97/836/EC ( OJ L 346, 17.12.1997, p. 78 ), or subsequent Council decisions as provided for under Article 3(3) of that Decision.

Any further amendment of the UN/ECE Regulations listed below has also to be deemed to be equivalent, subject to the Community decision provided for under Article 4(2) of Decision 97/836/EC b .

Where the separate Directives contain installation requirements, these apply also to components and separate technical units approved in accordance with the Regulations of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
