CHAPTER IXU.K. INDIVIDUAL VEHICLE APPROVALS

1.[F3The approval authority] may decide to exempt a particular vehicle, whether unique or not, from the obligation to comply with one or more of the requirements of this Regulation or with one or more of the requirements laid down in the regulatory acts listed in Annex II, provided that [F4the vehicle complies with the relevant alternative requirements specified in Schedule 2 to the Road Vehicles (Approval) Regulations 2020].

2.An application for F5... individual vehicle approval shall be submitted by the owner of the vehicle, the manufacturer, the manufacturer's representative or the importer.

3.[F6The approval authority must] not carry out destructive tests to establish whether the vehicle complies with the alternative requirements referred to in paragraph 1, but shall instead use any relevant information provided by the applicant for that purpose.

4.For the purpose of a F5... individual vehicle approval, the approval authority shall accept systems, components and separate technical units that are type-approved in accordance with the regulatory acts listed in Annex II.

5.[F7The approval authority must] issue without delay a F5... individual vehicle approval certificate where the vehicle conforms to the description appended to the application and satisfies the relevant alternative requirements.

6.The F5... individual vehicle approval certificate shall be given a unique number in accordance with a harmonised numbering system, which [F8must allow for the identification of the requirements with which the vehicle conforms].

[F97.The Secretary of State may by regulations lay down the template and the numbering system to be used in the GB individual vehicle approval certificate.]

Article 47U.K.Specific provisions

1.The procedures set out in [F11Article 45] may apply to a particular vehicle built in multiple stages.

2.The procedures set out in [F12Article 45] shall not replace an intermediate stage within the normal sequence of a multi-stage type-approval, and shall not apply for the purposes of obtaining the first-stage approval of a vehicle.
