1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2023 and shall come into operation on 1st October 2023.
(2) These Regulations shall have effect as follows—
(a)regulation 15 from 1st April 2009;
(b)regulation 16 from 1st April 2015; and
(c)regulations 17 and 18 from 1st April 2023.
(3) In these Regulations—
“the 2009 Scheme” means the occupational pension scheme constituted by the Local Government Pension Scheme (Benefits, Membership and Contributions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009(1), the Local Government Pension Scheme (Administration) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009(2) and the Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment and Transitional Provisions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009(3);
“the 2014 Regulations” means the Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014;
“the Scheme” means the occupational pension scheme constituted by the Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014 and the Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment and Transitional Provisions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014; and
“the Transitional Regulations” means the Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment and Transitional Provisions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014.
(4) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(4) shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Assembly.
