2. 9th May 1998 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act and, save as provided below, those provisions shall come into force on that day for all purposes—
(a)in section 1 (the General Osteopathic Council and its committees)
(i)subsection (2), so far as not already in force; and
(ii)subsection (3), so far as it relates to the other provisions of the Act brought into force by this Order;
(b)section 2 (registrar of osteopaths), section 3 (full registration), section 4 (conditional registration) and section 6 (registration: supplemental provision), so far as not yet in force;
(c)section 9 (access to the register)(1), with the exception of subsection (1C);
(d)section 10(1) (fraud or error in relation to registration);
(e)the following sections—
(i)section 12 (visitors);
(ii)section 14 (recognition of qualifications);
(iii)section 15 (recognition of qualifications: supplemental);
(iv)section 16 (withdrawal of recognition);
(v)section 18 (information to be given by institutions);
(vi)section 29 (appeals against decisions of the registrar);
(vii)section 33 (competition and anti-competitive practices); and
(viii)section 38 (data protection and access to personal health information); and
(f)section 42 (short title, commencement, transitional provisions and extent), so far as not yet in force.
Section 9 was amended by paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Chiropractors Act 1994 (c. 17).
