Statutory Rules of Northern Ireland

7th June 1995
In exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 1(2) of the Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(1), and of all other powers in that behalf, thereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Children (1995 Order) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 1995.
2. The following provisions of the Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 shall come into operation on 1st July 1995—
(a)Articles 1 and 2;
(b)Articles 155, 156 and 157 and Schedule 6;
(c)Articles 183 and 184(2);
(d)Articles 184(1) and 185 to the extent that those provisions activate the transitional provision, amendments and repeals mentioned in sub-paragraphs (e), (f) and (g);
(e)in Schedule 8, paragraph 33;
(f)in Schedule 9, paragraphs 8, 14, 82, 93(a), 101(a) and 186; and
(g)in Schedule 10, the repeals of Articles 3, 4 and 6 of the Family Law Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 1977(2).

This Order brings into operation on 1st July 1995 all the provisions of Part XIV of, and Schedule 6 to, the Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 (parents not married to each other and property rights arising), except Article 158 (repeal of the Illegitimate Children (Affiliation Orders) Act (Northern Ireland) 1924).
The Order also brings into operation on that date the introductory provisions of the Children Order and provisions related to Part XIV, including two amendments of the Legitimacy Acts (Northern Ireland) 1928 to 1961.
