The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 6(7) of the Litter (Northern Ireland) Order 1994(1) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Litter (Fixed Penalty) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998, and shall come into operation on 1st June 1998.
2. For the amount of £10 specified as the amount of the fixed penalty in Article 6(6) of the Litter (Northern Ireland) Order 1994 there shall be substituted the amount of £25.

Article 6 of the Litter (Northern Ireland) Order 1994 makes provision for the payment of a fixed penalty to discharge any liability to conviction for the offence of leaving litter under Article 3 or permitting dogs to foul under Article 4 of that Order.
This Order increases the amount of the fixed penalty from £10 to £25.
