The Department of Finance and Personnel, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 47(1) and (2) of the Births and Deaths Registration (Northern Ireland) Order 1976(1), Articles 3(3)(b), 19(1)(a), 35(3), 36(1)(b) and (3) and 37 of the Marriage (Northern Ireland) Order 2003(2) and Article 15 of the Financial Provisions (Northern Ireland) Order 1976(3) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2004.

Fees payable

2.  The fee payable under a statutory provision specified in column 1 of the Schedule in respect of the matter specified in relation to it in column 2 shall be the fee specified in relation to it in column 3.

Revocation

3.  The Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002(4) is hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order provides for the increase of various fees payable under the Births and Deaths Registration (Northern Ireland) Order 1976 relating to the registration of births and deaths. It also provides for the various fees payable under the Marriage (Northern Ireland) Order 2003 relating to giving notice for intended marriage, the solemnisation of civil marriage and the registration of marriage.

This Order supersedes the Births, Deaths and Marriages (Fees) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002.
