BETTING, GAMING AND LOTTERIES

7th June 2004
The Department for Social Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(4) of the Betting and Gaming (Northern Ireland) Order 2004(1) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Betting and Gaming (2004 Order) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004.
2. The day appointed for the coming into operation of the following provisions of the Betting and Gaming (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 is 7th August 2004 –
(a)Article 6;
(b)Article 8;
(c)Article 9; and
(d)in Schedule 4, the entries relating to Articles 32 and 107 of the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985(2), and Article 12(3) so far as it relates thereto.

This Order appoints 7th August 2004 for the coming into operation of the following provisions –
Article 6 (Conduct of licensed offices),
Article 8 (Gaming machines),
Article 9 (Supplementary provisions with respect to use of gaming machines in licensed offices) and
Article 12(3) which provides for the repeal of certain provisions included in Schedule 4 insofar as they relate to Articles 6 and 8 of the Betting and Gaming (Northern Ireland) Order 2004.
