These Regulations increase the amount of home loss payments which may be payable under the Land Acquisition and Compensation (Northern Ireland) Order 1973. A person is entitled to a home loss payment when he is displaced from a dwelling by compulsory purchase or in the other circumstances specified in Article 30 of the Order.
Regulation 2(1) deals with cases where the person displaced has an owner’s interest (or is treated as having such an interest). It increases the maximum amount of a home loss payment from £15,000 to £45,000 and the minimum amount from £1,500 to £4,500.
Regulation 2(2) increases the amount of home loss payment in other cases from £1,500 to £4,500.
