Statutory Rules of Northern Ireland

The Lord Chancellor makes the following rules in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 123A (6) of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991(1):
1. These Rules may be cited as the Planning (National Security Directions and Appointed Representatives) (Amendment) Rules (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 24th July 2006.
2.—(1) The Planning (National Security Directions and Appointed Representatives) Rules (Northern Ireland) 2006(2) shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
(2) In Rule 2(1) delete the definition of “electronic communication” in its entirety and insert—
““electronic communication” has the meaning assigned to it by section 4(1) of the Electronic Communications Act (Northern Ireland) 2001(3);”.

These Rules amend the definition of “electronic communication” in the Planning (National Security Directions and Appointed Representatives) Rules (Northern Ireland) 2006 to accord with the current definition provided by section 4(1) of the Electronic Communications Act (Northern Ireland) 2001, as amended by the Communications Act 2003.
