The M2/Trunk Road T7 Order (Northern Ireland) 2013

Coming into operation

The Department for Regional Development(1) in accordance with Article 15(1) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993(2) having constructed the lengths of road described in Part I of the Schedule considers it expedient to designate them as special roads.

The Department in accordance with Article 14(1) of that Order considers it expedient for the purpose of improving the trunk system that the roads and lengths of road described in Parts I and II of the Schedule should be designated as trunk roads and that the roads and lengths of trunk road described in Part III of the Schedule should cease to be trunk road.

The Department has published and served a notice in compliance with paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 8 to that Order.

No objection has been received.

The Department, in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 14(1), 15(1) and 16(1) and (2) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 and now vested in it(3) orders and directs as follows:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as The M2/Trunk Road T7 Order (Northern Ireland) 2013 and shall come into operation on 23rd December 2013.

(2) In this Order, “map T7/1” to “map T7/7”, means the sequence of drawings numbered from T7/1 to T7/7, marked “The M2/Trunk Road T7 Order (Northern Ireland) 2013” copies of which have been deposited at the Department’s Roads Service offices, Headquarters, Clarence Court, 10-18 Adelaide Street, Belfast BT2 8GB, Northern Division, County Hall, Castlerock Road, Coleraine BT51 3HS and Eastern Division, Hydebank, 4 Hospital Road, Belfast BT8 8JL.

Designation and Direction

2.—(1) The lengths of road described in Part I of the Schedule shall become special and trunk road and be part of the Belfast-Coleraine-Londonderry Trunk Road T7;

(2) The roads and lengths of road described in Part II of the Schedule shall become trunk road and be part of the Belfast-Coleraine-Londonderry Trunk Road T7;

(3) The roads and lengths of road described in Part III of the Schedule shall cease to be trunk road.

Classification of traffic

3.  The lengths of road described in Part I of the Schedule shall be used only by traffic of Classes I and II as set out in Schedule 1 to the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993.

PART ILENGTHS OF ROAD TO BE SPECIAL AND TRUNK ROAD

1.  145 metres of M2 off-slip road, in the townland of Bush, from a point 145 metres north-west of its junction with B532 Niblock Road to that junction, more particularly delineated and coloured purple on map T7/4.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides that—

(a)Parts of the M2 motorway and M2 on- and off-slip roads described in Part I of the Schedule, more particularly delineated and coloured purple on the maps, shall be special road subject to motorway traffic restrictions and be part of the Belfast-Coleraine-Londonderry Trunk Road T7; and

(b)A2 Duke Street, A2 Waterside Link, A2 King Street, A2 Great George’s Street and parts of A2 Duke Street slip road, A2 Clooney Road, A2 Main Street, A2 Ballykelly Road, A37 Broad Road, A37 Dunhill Road, A29 Dunhill Road, A26 Newbridge Road, A26 Frosses Road, A26 Crankill Road, A26 Ballee Roundabout (A26 Antrim Road and A26 Lisnevenagh Road), A2 Nelson Street, and A2 York Street described in Part II of the Schedule, more particularly delineated and coloured red on the maps, shall be trunk road and be part of the Belfast-Coleraine-Londonderry Trunk Road T7.

Lengths of the present Trunk Road T7 described in Part III of the Schedule, more particularly delineated and edged brown on the maps, shall cease to be trunk road.

In this Order “map T7/1” to “map T7/7”, means the sequence of drawings numbered from T7/1 to T7/7, marked “The M2/Trunk Road T7 Order (Northern Ireland) 2013” copies of which have been deposited at the Department’s Roads Service offices, Headquarters, Clarence Court, 10-18 Adelaide Street, Belfast BT2 8GB, Northern Division, County Hall, Castlerock Road, Coleraine BT51 3HS and Eastern Division, Hydebank, 4 Hospital Road, Belfast BT8 8JL.
