EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides that 5268 metres of new and upgraded roads comprising—

(a)1177 metres of new and upgraded road described in Part I of the Schedule, more particularly delineated, coloured red and marked on Map 2 shall become special and trunk road and be part of the Belfast-Bangor Trunk Road T1;

(b)2373 metres of new and upgraded road described in Part II of the Schedule, more particularly delineated, coloured red and marked on Map 3 shall become special and trunk road and be part of the Belfast-Ballygawley-Londonderry-Land Frontier Trunk Road T3; and

(c)1718 metres of new and upgraded road described in Part III of the Schedule, more particularly delineated, coloured red and marked on Map 4 shall become special and trunk road and be part of the Belfast-Coleraine-Londonderry Trunk Road T7.

The Order also provides for the stopping-up of certain roads.

New connecting roads, which are not the subject of this Order, are described below for the purpose of clarification and are shown coloured blue on Map 5—

(a)651 metres of new and upgraded A2 York Street, from a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 333886, Northing 374910 extending in a north-easterly direction to a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334201, Northing 375480.

(b)55 metres of new and upgraded B88 Frederick Street and Great Patrick Street, from a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 333877, Northing 374956 extending in a south-easterly direction to a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 333924, Northing 374926.

(c)106 metres of new and upgraded Great Patrick Street and Dunbar Link, from a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334020, Northing 374883 extending in a south-easterly direction to a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334084, Northing 374799.

(d)217 metres of new and upgraded A2 Nelson Street, from a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334020, Northing 374848 extending in a north-easterly direction to a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334129, Northing 375035.

(e)194 metres of new and upgraded A2 Great Georges Street, from a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334129, Northing 375035 extending in a north-westerly direction to a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 333956, Northing 375123.

(f)132 metres of new and upgraded A2 Nelson Street, from a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334269, Northing 375294 extending in a north-easterly direction to a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334327, Northing 375413.

(g)139 metres of new and upgraded A2 Dock Street, from a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334270, Northing 375459 extending in a south-easterly direction to a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334396, Northing 375400.

(h)205 metres of new and upgraded A2 Nelson Street, from a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334352, Northing 375433 extending in a north-easterly direction to a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334392, Northing 375663.

(i)298 metres of new and upgraded A2 Duncrue Street, from a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334392, Northing 375633 extending in a northerly direction to a point located at Irish Grid Reference Easting 334425, Northing 375929.

New bridges, which are not the subject of this Order, are described to below for the purpose of clarification and shown coloured orange on the Maps—

(a)existing bridge widened to carry new Trunk Road T3 over B126 North Queen Street.

(b)two new bridges to carry A2 York Street over new Trunk Roads T1, T3 and T7.

(c)new bridge to carry new Trunk Road T1 over new Trunk Road T3.

(d)existing bridge widened to carry new Trunk Road T7 over A2 Dock Street.

(e)new bridge to carry new Trunk Road T3 over A2 Dock Street.

(f)existing bridge widened to carry new Trunk Road T3 over Whitla Street pedestrian subway.

The Maps referred to above means the sequence of drawings numbered from YSI-TNI-XX-XX-DR-OR004 to YSI-TNI-XX-XX-DR-OR008 inclusive marked “The Trunk Roads T1, T3 and T7 (York Street Interchange) Order (Northern Ireland) 2015” copies of which have been deposited at the Department’s TransportNI offices, Headquarters, Clarence Court, 10-18 Adelaide Street, Belfast BT2 8GB and Eastern Division, Hydebank, 4 Hospital Road, Belfast BT8 8JL.
