Health And Social Care Act

The Department of Health, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8(1) of the Health and Social Care Act (Northern Ireland) 2022(1), makes the following Order:
1. This order may be cited as the Health and Social Care (2022 Act) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2022.
2. 1st April 2022 is the appointed day for the coming into operation of the following provisions of the Health and Social Care Act (Northern Ireland) 2022-
(a)section 1 (Dissolution of the Regional Health and Social Care Board);
(b)section 2 and Schedule 1 (Transfer of the Regional Board’s functions);
(c)section 3 and Schedule 2 (Continuation of Local Commissioning Groups);
(d)section 6(1)(b) and Part 2 of Schedule 4 (Transitional provision).

This order is made by the Department of Health under section 8(1) of the Health and Social Care Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 (“the Act”).
It brings into operation the following provisions on 1st April 2022:
section 1 brings about the dissolution of the Regional Health and Social Care Board.
section 2 and Schedule 1 contains amendments providing for the transfer of the Regional Board’s functions and amendments consequential on the transfer of those functions;
section 3 allows for the continuation of Local Commissioning Groups and Schedule 2 contains provision for their operation and dissolution.
section 6(1)(b) and Part 2 of Schedule 4 sets out the detail of transitional provisions connected with the coming into operation of the Act.
