The Department for Communities(1) makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 52B(3) of the Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996(2) and now vested in it(3).

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Licensing (Sample) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022 and shall come into operation on 7th April 2022.

2.  In these Regulations “the 1996 Order” means the Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996.

Application

3.  These Regulations apply to a local producer’s licence in accordance with Articles 52B and 52D of the 1996 Order.

Sample

4.  A sample of intoxicating liquor, is an amount (whether in one serving or more) which does not exceed the amount set out in the Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations prescribe the amount of intoxicating liquor which may be provided as a sample for consumption on a tour given of production premises under Article 52B of the Licensing (NI) Order 1996 (“the 1996 Order”) or at an event not on licensed premises under Article 52D of the 1996 Order. The amount (whether in one serving or more) must not exceed:

(a)852 mls beer or cider up to and including 6% ABV;

(b)568 mls beer or cider above 6% ABV;

(c)105 mls of any spirit;

(d)210 mls of any liqueur.
