The Department for Infrastructure(1) makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 23(5), 30(1) and 56(1) of the Taxis Act (Northern Ireland) 2008(2) and now vested in it(3).

Citation and commencementN.I.

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Taxi Drivers’ Licences (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2023 and shall come into operation on 1st October 2023.

Amendment of the Taxi Drivers’ Licences RegulationsN.I.

2.  In regulation 13 of the Taxi Drivers’ Licences Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014(4) (fee for a practical test) —

(a)in sub-paragraph (a) for “£60.00” substitute “£70.00”; and

(b)in sub-paragraph (b) for “£90.00” substitute “£109.00”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Taxi Drivers’ Licences Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014 in order to increase the fee for a practical test of competence to drive a taxi from £60.00 to £70.00 where a test commences at any time between 8.30am and 4.30pm during the days Monday to Friday and from £90.00 to £109.00 where a test commences at any other time.
