The Department of Justice makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 112(1)(b), 113A(1)(b), 113B(1)(b) and 125(1) and (5) of the Police Act 1997(1), as modified by section 126A(2) of that Act.

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2024 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2024.

Amendment of the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) (Disclosure) Regulation (Northern Ireland) 2008

2.—(1) The Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) (Disclosure) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008(3) are amended as follows.

(2) For regulation 4(1) (Fees for disclosure) substitute—

4.(1) The fee payable in relation to an application for the issue of a basic or standard disclosure is £16 and the fee payable in relation to an application for an enhanced disclosure is £32..

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) (Disclosure) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 (“the disclosure Regulations”).

The effect of the amendment to regulation 4 of the disclosure regulations is to reduce the fee for a basic and standard disclosure from £18 to £16 and to reduce the fee for an enhanced disclosure from £33 to £32.
