The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 135(1) and (2)(a) of the Police Act 1997(1), hereby make the following Order:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Police Act 1997 (Commencement No. 8) (Scotland) Order 2001.
(2) This Order extends to Scotland only.
2.—(1) Sections 120(3), 122(1) and (2) and 125 of the Police Act 1997 shall come into force on 1st January 2002.
(2) Section 120(1), (2) and (4) to (7) of the Police Act 1997 shall come into force on 1st February 2002.

The Order, which extends to Scotland only, brings into force the following provisions of the Police Act 1997:
Section 120 (which relates to the register to be maintained by the Scottish Ministers for the purposes of Part V of that Act);
Section 122(1) and (2) (which relates to the code of practice to be published in connection with the use of information provided to registered persons); and
Section 125 (which relates to regulations made under Part V of the 1997 Act).
Sections 120(3) (power to make regulations about the maintenance of the register), 122(1) and (2) and 125 are brought into force on 1st January 2002 and the remaining provisions of section 120 are brought into force on 1st February 2002.
