The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 56(2) of the Water Resources (Scotland) Act 2013(1).

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Water Resources (Scotland) Act 2013 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2013 and comes into force on 10th June 2013.

Interpretation

2.  In this Order, “the Act” means the Water Resources (Scotland) Act 2013.

Appointed day

3.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), 10th June 2013 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the Act specified in column 1 of the table in the Schedule (the subject matter of which is specified in column 2 of that table).

(2) Where a purpose is specified in column 3 of that table, the corresponding provision mentioned in column 1 comes into force in accordance with paragraph (1) only for that purpose.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force, on 10th June 2013, the following provisions of the Water Resources (Scotland) Act 2013 (“the Act”)—

  • Part 1 which makes provision in relation to the development of water resources,

  • Part 7 and schedules 1 and 2 which make provision in relation to water shortage orders,

  • section 53 and schedule 4 which make minor and consequential repeals.

The other provisions listed in the Schedule are brought into force on the same day but only for the purposes of enabling regulations, orders and a scheme to be made under those provisions.

The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 9th April 2013. Section 56 of the Act brought into force Part 8 (except section 53 and Schedule 4) on the day after Royal Assent.
