The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 56(2) of the Water Resources (Scotland) Act 2013(1).

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Water Resources (Scotland) Act 2013 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2013 and comes into force on 21st December 2013.

Appointed day

2.  21st December 2013 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Water Resources (Scotland) Act 2013 (in so far as they are not already in force)—

(a) sections 23 to 28 (Scottish Water’s functions);

(b) sections 30 and 31 (raw water quality); and

(c) sections 34 to 37 (sewerage network).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force, on 21st December 2013, the following provisions of the Water Resources (Scotland) Act 2013 (“the Act”)—

• sections 23 to 28 which make provision in relation to Scottish Water’s functions,

• sections 30 and 31 which make provision in relation to raw water quality, and

• section 34 to 37 which make provision in relation to sewerage networks.

The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 9th April 2013. Section 56 of the Act brought into force Part 8 (except section 53 and schedule 4) on the day after Royal Assent.
