The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 31(2) of the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018 (Commencement No. 2) Regulations 2019 and come into force on 18 April 2019.
2. The day appointed for the coming into force of section 11(2) (guidance about section 7 duty) and the schedule (duties in relation to island communities: relevant authorities) of the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018 is 18 April 2019.

These Regulations bring section 11(2) and the schedule of the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018 (“the Act”) into force on 18 April 2019. Section 11(2) introduces a requirement for the Scottish Ministers to consult certain persons before issuing guidance under section 11(1). The schedule lists bodies, office-holders and other persons who are authorities relevant to island communities.
The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 6 July 2018. Sections 1, 2, 30, 31 and 32 came into force on the following day.
