Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 1(4) of the Northern Ireland Act 1974(1), I hereby make the following Order:–

1.  This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Act 1974 (Interim Period Extension) Order 1999, and shall come into force forthwith.

2.  The interim period specified by section 1(4) of the Northern Ireland Act 1974 shall continue until 16th July 2000.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order extends until 16th July 2000 the period specified in section 1(4) of the Northern Ireland Act 1974 (as extended by the Northern Ireland Act 1974 (Interim Period Extension) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/1677)) for the operation of the temporary provisions for the government of Northern Ireland contained in Schedule 1 to that Act.
