The First Secretary of State, being of the opinion that there has been a change in the value of money since 16th March 1997 justifying the variations made by this Order, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 197(3) of the Representation of the People Act 1983(1) hereby makes the following Order, of which a draft has been laid before, and approved by resolution of, each House of Parliament:

1983 c.2; section 197(3) was amended by the Representation of the People Act 1985 (c. 50), section 24 and Schedule 4, paragraph 67(b).
