The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 8, 20(1) to (5A), 35, 86(2) and (4), 87(1) and (2) and 161(3) and (4) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008(1).
In accordance with section 20(8) of that Act, the Secretary of State has consulted such persons as the Secretary of State considers appropriate.
A draft of these Regulations was laid before Parliament in accordance with section 162(3) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and was approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) Regulations 2022 and come into force on 30th March 2022.
2.—(1) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.
(2) These Regulations apply to England only.
3. In regulation 1(6) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014(2) for “31st March 2022” substitute “31st March 2025”.

These Regulations amend the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 (“the 2014 Regulations”).
These Regulations amend the expiry date of the 2014 Regulations so that they cease to have effect after 31st March 2025.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen.
2008 c. 14. Section 20 was amended by sections 81 and 95 of the Care Act 2014 (c. 23) and section 1 of the Health and Social Care (Safety and Quality) Act 2015 (c. 28). Sections 35 and 87(2) were amended by S.I. 2015/664. Section 161(3) was amended by section 294(4) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012 (c. 7). See section 97(1) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 for the definitions of “prescribed” and “regulations”.
S.I. 2014/2936. Regulation 1(6) was inserted by S.I. 2015/64.
