(3)In section 97 of the M2Magistrates’ Courts Act 1980 (maximum fine for refusal to give evidence), the following subsection shall be substituted for subsection (5)—
“(5)A fine imposed under subsection (4) above shall be deemed, for the purposes of any enactment, to be a sum adjudged to be paid by a conviction.”.
(4)In section 12 of the M3Contempt of Court Act 1981 (maximum fine for contempt in face of magistrates’ court), the following subsection shall be substituted for subsection (2A)—
“(2A)A fine imposed under subsection (2) above shall be deemed, for the purposes of any enactment, to be a sum adjudged to be paid by a conviction.”.
(5)In section 14 of that Act (maximum fine for contempt in an inferior court), the following subsection shall be substituted for the subsection (2A) inserted by the M4Criminal Justice Act 1991—
“(2A)A fine imposed under subsection (2) above shall be deemed, for the purposes of any enactment, to be a sum adjudged to be paid by a conviction.”.
