The Act extends and applies to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Legislative competence for regulation of broadcasting is reserved to the UK Government in the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish devolution settlements.
As the Act was introduced as a Private Member’s Bill, the new English votes provisions in the House of Commons Standing Orders did not apply.
