Section 19 of the Human Rights Act 1998 required the Minister in charge of the Act in either House of Parliament to make a statement about the compatibility of the provisions of the Act with the Convention rights (as defined in section 1 of that Act).
In the opinion of the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Esther McVey MP, the provisions of the Act are compatible with the Convention rights and she has made a statement to that effect.
