The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the European Communities (European Schools) Order 1972.
(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
(3) This Order shall come into operation on 21st November 1972.
2. Any establishment bearing the name “European School” and governed by the provisions of the Statute of the European School, signed at Luxembourg on 15th July 1957, shall have the legal capacities of a body corporate.

This Order confers the legal capacities of a body corporate on the European School established under the provisions of the Statute of the European School, signed at Luxembourg on 15th July 1957, and any other European School which has been or may be established under the provisions of the Supplementary Protocol signed at Luxembourg on 13th April 1962. It enables the United Kingdom to give effect to Article 6 of the Statute and Article 3 of the Protocol.
