1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Solicitors Acts 1974 (Commencement) Order 1975.
(2) In this Order—
“the 1957 Act” means the Solicitors Act 1957, and any reference to the 1957 Act is a reference to that Act as amended or applied by or under any other enactment except any provision of the Solicitors (Amendment) Act 1974 brought into force by this Order;
“the appointed day” means 1st May 1975.
(3) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of this Order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
2. Subject to the saving provisions set out in the Schedule to this Order, on the appointed day—
(a)those provisions of the Solicitors (Amendment) Act 1974 which are not already in force by virtue of section 19(6) of that Act shall come into force; and
(b)immediately thereafter the Solicitors Act 1974 shall come into force.
