1. These Regulations shall come into operation on 19th November 1982 and may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) (Amendment) Regulations 1982.
2. The Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) Regulations 1979(1) shall be amended so as to have effect in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.
3. In Schedule 2, after the items the numbers of which are shown in column (1) of the Table below, insert, respectively, the new items specified in the Schedule to these Regulations the numbers of which are shown in column (2) of that Table.

4. In Schedule 4, after item 23, add the following new item:—

5. In Schedule 5, in paragraph 10—
(a)in paragraph (1), for the words “In the marking relating to item 23” substitute the words “In the markings relating to items 23 and 23A”; and
(b)in paragraph (3)(b), for the full stop at the end of sub–paragraph (v) substitute “; and”, and after that sub–paragraph add the following sub–paragraph:—
“(vi)the letter “N” if the retractor forming part of the motor vehicle part has special properties as regards use in a vehicle in category M2, M3, N1, N2 or N3.”.
