1.  This Order may be cited as the Civil Courts (Amendment) Order 1984 and shall come into operation on the 1st April 1984.

District Registries of the High Court

2.  The district registry of the High Court at Newtown shall be closed.

3.  A district registry of the High Court shall be established at Welshpool.

4.  The district of the Reigate County Court shall be assigned to the district of the Guildford District Registry.

County Courts

5.—(1) The holding of the Newtown County Court shall be discontinued.

(2) The county court at Welshpool shall have jurisdiction in proceedings commenced in the Newtown County Court before this Order comes into operation and shall be named the Welshpool and Newtown County Court.

(3) No process shall be invalid only because the court is described therein by the name by which it was known before the coming into operation of this Order.

6.  The Bloomsbury and Marylebone County Court shall be renamed the Bloomsbury County Court.

7.  For the purposes of section 1(1) of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1967 the Llangefni County Court shall be a divorce county court and court of trial.

8.  For the purposes of section 96(2) of the Bankruptcy Act 1914 and of section 218(5) of the Companies Act 1948 the Welshpool and Newtown County Court shall not be excluded from having jurisdiction under those Acts.

9.  For the purposes of section 67(1) and (2) of the Race Relations Act 1976 the district of the Welshpool and Newtown County Court shall be assigned for race relations purposes to the Wrexham County Court.

10.  The amendments set out in the schedule to this Order shall be made to the Civil Courts Order 1983, being amendments that are consequential upon the foregoing provisions of this Order.
