CHANGES IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 17(2) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973(1) to give effect to proposals made by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland under section 14(2) of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Hamilton and East Kilbride Districts (Spectacle E'e Falls, Sandford) Boundaries Amendment Order 1987, and shall come into force on 1st April 1987.
2. In the Schedule to this Order any reference to a boundary of a district is a reference to a boundary existing immediately before the commencement of this Order.
3. The Local Government Area Changes (Scotland) Regulations 1977(2) shall apply for the purpose of this Order to such extent as may be required to implement the area changes effected by article 4 of this Order.
4. Part of Hamilton District containing Spectacle E'e Falls at Sandford, being the area described in the Schedule to this Order and shown delineated and hatched on the map annexed and signed as relative to this Order, shall be transferred to East Kilbride District.
5. The area described in the Schedule to this Order (being the area transferred by article 4 of this Order) -
(a)shall cease to form part of Electoral Division 65 (Larkhall and Stonehouse) of Strathclyde Region(3) and of District Ward 15 (Stonehouse) of Hamilton District(4); and
(b)shall form part of Electoral Division 69 (Murray/Avondale) of Strathclyde Region and of District Ward 14 (Avondale South) of East Kilbride District(5).

Articles 4 and 5
The area bounded by a line commencing at Grid Reference NS 7144/4357 on the district boundary and, following field boundaries, running eastward, thence generally southeastward, thence eastward again and thence southeastward again to a point on the district boundary at Grid Reference NS 7165/4341; thence, along the district boundary where it follows the Kype Water, generally westward and thereafter generally northwestward to the point of commencement.

This Order transfers an area of approximately 1.80 acres at Spectacle E'e Falls, Sandford from Hamilton District to East Kilbride District. The Order also makes consequential changes of electoral arrangements.
The area transferred is shown on the map which forms part of this note.
Copies of the map referred to in article 4 of this Order may be inspected at the offices of any of the local authorities referred to in this Order.
S.I. 1977/8.
The electoral divisions of Strathclyde Region were constituted by S.I. 1979/673, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
The district wards of Hamilton District were constituted by S.I. 1981/773, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
The district wards of East Kilbride District were constituted by S.I. 1981/489, to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
