1. These Regulations may be cited as the Meters (Determination of Questions) (Expenses) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 15th June 1987.
2.—(1) The sums to be paid by the Electricity Boards mentioned in the first column of the Table below to the Secretary of State towards administrative expenses incurred by him in connection with the determination of questions under section 57 shall be the amounts specified in the second column of that Table and shall be paid in advance on he first day of each month.
(2) For the purposes of this Regulation—
a question is determined when a meter examiner signs a certificate that he has determined the question or that he is unable or no longer required to do so; and
“section 57”means section 57 of the Schedule to the Electric Lighting (Clauses) Act 1899 as incorporated with the Electricity Act 1947.
3. The Meters (Determination of Questions) (Expenses) Regulations 1986(3) are hereby revoked.

These Regulations re-enact, with amendments, the Meters (Determination of Questions) (Expenses) Regulations 1986, which provide for Electricity Boards to make monthly payments towards administrative expenses incurred by the Secretary of State in connection with the determination of questions as to the correctness of electricity meters. In addition to drafting amendments, the Regulations alter the amount of the monthly payments.
1899 c. 19; section 57 was substituted by the Energy Act 1983 (c. 25), Schedule 1, paragraph 13.
1947 c. 54; section 57(2) incorporates the Schedule to the Electric Lighting (Clauses) Act 1899 with adaptations and modifications.
