The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the power conferred upon Her by section 1(1) of the Consular Fees Act 1980(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

1.  This Order shall come into force on 1st June 1988 and may be cited as the Consular Fees (Amendment) Order 1988.

2.  Part II of the table of consular fees in the Schedule annexed to the Consular Fees Order 1987(2) shall be amended as follows—

(a)in Fee 20(a) the word“Issuing” shall be replaced by the words“Receiving an application for”; and

(b)for Fee 22 there shall be substituted the following provision:—

 (a)Receiving an application outside the United Kingdom for an entry clearance, certificate of entitlement to the right of abode, or a confirmation of the right of abode ... ... ... ...

(b)the applicant seeks entry for employment or self-employment for a period of six months or less, or as a returning resident, visitor, student, passenger in transit,“au pair” or for a working holiday in which case the fee is:

(i)for one entry ... ... ... ...

(iii)for multiple entries ... ... ... ...

or such sums, (being equivalent of fees charged by the authorities of any State for receiving or granting an application for an entry clearance to a British Citizen), as the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, directs to be taken for receiving an application for an entry clearance from a national or citizen of that State

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Consular Fees Order 1987 so as to render non-refundable consular fees payable with respect to entry clearances (fees 20(a) and 22), to introduce a new fee for granting a double entry visa (fee 22) and to increase the fees payable in respect of entry clearances for settlement from £50 to £60 and for multiple entries for employment and various other purposes listed under fee 22 from £40 to £44.
