The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred on him by section 144 of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980(1), after consultation with the Rule Committee appointed under that section, hereby makes the following Rules:
1980 c. 43; section 144 was extended by section 145 of that Act and by sections 2A (inserted by paragraph 5 of Schedule 1 to the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (c. 33) and which continues to have effect by virtue of section 37(5) of the Extradition Act 1989 (c. 33)) and 8 of the Backing of Warrants (Republic of Ireland) Act 1965 (c. 45).
