The Birmingham Assay Office Order 1989

Coming into force

Whereas–

(a) the Secretary of State, pursuant to section 16(2) of the Hallmarking Act 1973(1), proposes to make an Order to provide for the constitution of the Birmingham Assay Office;

(b) the Secretary of State has consulted with the British Hallmarking Council and the Birmingham Assay Office;

(c) the requirements of Part I of Schedule 6 to that Act, subject to the modifications in Part II of that Schedule, have been complied with;

(d) objections having been received by the Secretary of State from persons appearing to him to be affected by the Order, the Secretary of State has caused a local inquiry to be held in accordance with paragraph 7(a) of that Schedule; and

(e) the person appointed by the Secretary of State to conduct the inquiry has recommended that an Order be made in those terms:

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 16(2) and (3) of the Hallmarking Act 1973 and paragraph 6 of Schedule 6 to that Act, as substituted by paragraph 11(d) in Part II of that Schedule, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:–
